sagely naturals

A devotion to quality and a commitment to “support whole self wellness.” That’s the message behind Sagely Naturals, which produces a wide range of whole plant hemp CBD products including capsules, creams, and oils.

The company was founded in 2015 by Kaley Nichol and Kerrigan Behrens, in order to “harness the life-changing benefits of broad-spectrum CBD and natural botanicals to help you do more of what you love.”

Sagely Naturals prides itself on working with chemists and neuropaths to create these products, which are rich in natural therapeutic remedies such as turmeric, chamomile, ashwagandha, and magnolia bark, to name a few.

Materials, Ingredients and Manufacturing Process

Sagely Naturals uses what it describes as “honest ingredients” and “powerful botanicals” in its products. The company states that this includes CBD derived from non-GMO, sun-grown hemp that is sourced from partner farms in Colorado and Oregon which are certified by the US Department of Agriculture.

The company doesn’t provide details about the actual facilities where its products are manufactured or what the extraction process entails. Instead they describe the “proprietary method of extraction and purification at our state-of-the-art partner facilities,” which use no harsh chemicals or solvents.

The company’s products are vegan, gluten free, and animal cruelty free.

Sagely Naturals uses a wide range of natural botanicals along with CBD, a list of which can be found here

Regarding whether or not its products are all natural, the company says that “our hemp is grown per organic principles using non-GMO strains, and we use only pure essential oils.”

The company also touts its mission statement for ingredients that follows “the Environmental Working Group’s “SkinDeep” database, Whole Foods’ “Unacceptable Ingredient List,” and other leading natural skincare standards.”

The company adds that it seeks out ingredients “that are made from renewable resources found in nature” and that they are formulated to “avoid toxins, carcinogens, allergens, animal by products, reproductive and endocrine disruptors, and ingredients harmful to the environment.”

The products are also free of parabens, synthetic fragrances, artificial colors or dyes, and sulfates, according to the company.

Packaging & Branding

sagely

A quick dive onto Sagely Naturals’ homepage gives the feeling of being poolside at a clean, relaxing spa, but not one that will make you take out a second mortgage or where you may be surrounded by celebrities, Instagram influencers, or the children of foreign despots.

It’s a more modest vibe, and that goes for the tone as well, which is less aspirational/you can conquer the world and become immortal, and more, you can just be the best you possible. It’s found in the messaging — with phrases like “feel your best everyday,” “helping people do more of what they love,” and “we all deserve to feel our best.”

The brand appears to be looking to build trust and not promise the moon, rather, something to help you level up a bit, but not too much that you forget where you came from.

Sagely Naturals packaging uses a minimalistic approach that looks polished and almost clinical, a sort of mix of dignified cosmetic products and pharmaceutical topical solutions. They clearly eschew the “luxury chocolate maker” or “what if an energy drink company made CBD pills” look that some other companies go with.

Transparency and Lab Results

On the Sagely Naturals website the company posts certificates of authenticity and lab results for each product, which can be accessed by selecting the batch number of the product in question. The lab results show the date and location of the test, the manufacturers of each ingredient, and an itemized rundown of the hemp cannabinoid profile, heavy metals, yeast and mold count, and more. Some tests also include certification that the product is in fact vegan and gluten free, and contains no silicones, parabens, sulfates, or synthetic fragrances or dyes.

The company could do more to detail exactly how its extraction process works, the make up of its facilities, and the manufacturing process that goes into the products. Also, some of the content on the website is confusing, for instance, it says that all of the hemp is grown in Colorado and Oregon, but also that “all of our CBD products (CBD Creams, Capsules, Sprays and Oils) are manufactured in the USA, using hemp grown in New England.”
