Charlotte’s Web is like the mama to all CBD companies

Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil

Charlotte’s Web is a Colorado-based company that has one mission: to better the planet and the people on it. A broad goal, the folks at Charlotte’s Web focus on quality with a complete seed-to-store manufacturing process and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. With the largest market share in the hemp industry and a generous 30-day satisfaction guarantee, clearly the Charlotte’s Web brand has become synonymous with CBD supplementation inside the US.

In 2018 alone, Charlotte’s Web grew 675,000 lbs of hemp. In 2019, it planted nearly 900 acres of land for its products. Charlotte’s Web uses non-certified organic farming practices and all of its plants are non-GMO. It is US Hemp Certified and has a pharmaceutical-grade compounding facility that is cGMP certified, passing its most recent audit with a near-perfect score (with a 98 out of 100). This particular certification helps you and me, as the consumer, to know that even though this is a natural product with naturally occurring differences in each season’s crop, you will get the most consistent product with each purchase.

What you get with Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm

The Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm contains 300 mg of CBD per oz and comes in two separate sizes: 0.5 oz and 1.5 oz. Both of these are conveniently packaged in round metal containers with the Charlotte’s Web logo and the total amount of CBD displayed prominently on the front. Since this is a full-spectrum product, it contains all the aerial parts of the plant, which is basically everything above the ground. It does contain the legal amount of THC (which is less than 0.3 percent). However, it won’t actually make you feel high, but it does give you the benefit of the entourage effect, which is basically where all of the cannabinoids naturally found inside the industrial hemp plant work synergistically to increase the overall benefit of the plant.

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm is not just a CBD topical supplement. Charlotte’s Web also uses natural substances shown to help improve the moisture of your skin like Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Sunflower seed oil combined with essential oils for a pleasant scent like Clove and Chamomile. The supplement is thicker than the Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Cream. It goes on a little heavier and doesn’t rub in quite as quickly.

Lab results for Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm

Eurofins provides the test for Charlotte’s Web Products. The biggest beef I have against Charlotte’s Web is that they make it like passing an act of Congress to get ahold of their test results. Then, at least up until recently, once you did find them, the test results didn’t actually disclose very much information, especially when compared to companies like Endoca.

Honestly, there is NO easy way to get to the test results for Charlotte’s Web. Frankly, I’m not sure why they make it so darn difficult, other than the thrill of the hunt. The easiest way (and even THAT is two-part) to get to the test results is to scan the QR code. This action doesn’t take you to the particular test results, that just takes you to a searchable Batch Results page. Finding your batch number is the next fun thing on your agenda if you want to find the super-secret COAs. I have reviewed multiple brands from all over the U.S. and Charlotte’s Web is hands down the absolute worst about disclosure of their test results.

I don’t know why you can’t just search for “Certificate of Analysis” on their website. (If you do, it brings you to other products they have for sale.) I also don’t know why they don’t link to the test results on the individual product pages. Instead, you have a multipoint process that has seriously never resulted in me finding the right batch number, ever, on the first go-round.

If you are not into sleuthing it out for test results, check out this link (which takes you to the Batch Results Page) and then type in your batch number. Keep in mind, finding your batch number is sort of like finding an Easter Egg. They do offer “help” on the page, with a picture of the batch number on the packing slip (which is not very helpful if you’re like me and throw away all packaging slips basically immediately (whoops!)). They also show a couple of different examples where the batch results could be.

Another thing to keep in mind, if you have a question for the folks at Charlotte’s Web, you’re better off calling them during their office hours because they request 3-4 business days for email responses.

What is in the lab results?

When you check out the COA, you’ll see that you get 5.3 mg/g of CBD. By far the best thing I like about the Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm is that you get more than just CBD, you also get CBG (at .1 mg/g) and CBC .2 mg/g. THC levels cam in at .02% (within the legal limit of both the U.S. and E.U.) Charlotte’s Web recently revamped how they managed their COAs, opting to follow along with the industry trend of basically full discloser, so now you also can see how their products also pass Microbial tests, Residual Solvents tests, Pesticides test, Residual Solvents test, Heavy Metals tests, and you can even see how the Hemp Infused Balm passed the test for Mycotoxins. Basically, this means that the Charlotte’s Web Hemp Balm, although not certified organic, is free of any of the possibly carcinogenic toxins commonly found in non-organic foods which makes me feel safe putting the balm on my skin.

Using Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm with CBD

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm With Cbd Review

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm packaging

In the last part of 2018, Charlotte’s Web rebranded and updated its packaging to include a pretty mountainscape in the background with the name of the product and CBD totals predominantly displayed on the front. The Hemp Balm comes in a metal container, similar to some chapstick brands I have seen and is very durable and convenient to carry in your pocket or handbag. Currently, there are two sizes, 0.5 oz, and 1.5 oz. This is great because the smaller packaging allows for a lower price point to try it, and then once you’re convinced you love the product, you can upgrade to the larger package available. It looks a whole bunch like a container of lip balm to be completely honest. My husband prefers the metal tins for his chapped lips, and this packaging, especially in the smaller size, looks just like something he’d carry during the winter when his lips dry out.

First impressions of the Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm

When you first open the Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm, the first thing you’ll notice is the scent. It is very light and pleasant, not at all like your grandmother’s medicine cabinet. The next thing you’ll notice is that it looks a whole bunch like a chapped lip supplement. The first time I used it, I noticed that it feels a bit like a lip balm, and it glides on easily. I put it on my lower back and hip which seem to bother me regularly and I noticed that it sat on top of my skin at first, eventually absorbing in several minutes later. It took about 30 minutes for me to notice a decrease in my pain.

Using Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm over time

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm With Cbd Review

The Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused balm consistently worked each time I applied it to my hip and lower back. I can’t say that I noticed an improvement in sleep using just this supplement (which I saw in a review on the website) but I can say that within about 30 minutes of each application, the local pain had diminished significantly. I have sensitive skin that breaks out easily, but this product didn’t give me a rash or any breakouts whatsoever so I really liked that. It does sit on top of the skin for several minutes, so I did have to wait a bit before getting dressed because I didn’t want any oily residue on my clothes.

Top three reasons you should try Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm With Cbd Review

The first thing you’ll love about the Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm is the scent. It is light and a little sweet-smelling and leaves a pleasant odor, well after its application. The second thing you’ll love about this balm is that it lasts! On typical days, I only need to use it in the morning and then before bed, which is nice. On days when it’s rather humid or the weather is changing, I may have to use it mid-day in addition, but that’s not very frequent. The last thing you’ll love about the Charlotte Web’s Hemp Infused Balm is that this is an easy-to-purchase product. The 0.5 oz size is very affordable, which makes this an easy choice when experimenting with CBD supplementation.

The top three things to really consider when thinking about the Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm

The Charlotte’s Web Hemp Infused Balm is very waxy. As such, it’ll sit on top of your skin a little longer than a lighter-weight cream. So if you’re in a rush to get somewhere, then this may not be the best option because it can rub off on your clothes or other things. The second thing to keep in mind when using this product is that the metal tins — although they are convenient to carry around with lids that don’t just pop off — if you have stiff hands and/or you have trouble with grasping things, then this container can be somewhat tricky. My father-in-law (who has limited mobility in his hands) had a bit of trouble opening the container when I was offering it to him. Finally, if scents are something you can’t manage, this does have essential oils in it, which can trigger symptoms like headaches and other sensitivities.

The value

With a .5 oz size, you certainly can purchase this product very easily since it is relatively inexpensive. A little bit of this balm goes a long way, so even a 0.5 oz container can last you several days. The smaller containers can last me for almost two weeks. Even the 1.5 oz size is very affordable compared to other topicals.
