Love Hemp: from tragedy to success
The company was formed by two London entrepreneurs, Tony Calamita and Tom Rowland, in 2015. The company offers premium-quality, full-spectrum cannabinoid extracts from ethically sourced hemp plants. However, the circumstances in which the idea of this brand was born is tragic. Tom Rowland, one of the co-founders of Love Hemp, decided to create the company, in memory of his father who passed away.
Right from the start, the brand was fully committed to promoting CBD and has quickly become the UK’s leader in the cannabis market. Love Hemp offers a wide selection of CBD products. Researchers work hard on new product development. One of the novel items, CBD infused water, has become an unexpected hit. Love Hemp offers also CBD infused oils, sprays, vapes, chocolate, jelly domes, and beauty products like this mask.
Love Hemp uses organic hemp grown in US soil in controlled conditions. Working directly with farmers allows Love Hemp to control the whole process. All of Love Hemp’s products are produced in GMP facilities and contain hemp extracts free from pesticides, herbicides or any other nasty chemicals. Cannabidiol is extracted through a CO2 extraction method that allows the manufacturer to obtain pure extracts with zero residual solvents. All of the CBD extracts and products at Love Hemp are third-party and in-house laboratory tested using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). All Love Hemp products have a guaranteed minimum CBD concentration and are made of low THC cannabis strains. The company is trying to operate in a regulated way in a largely unregulated market.
CBD face mask made with advanced nano-emulsified CBD.
The CBD Face Mask is infused with THC-free hemp oil. This cotton mask contains also other plant extracts that help to hydrate and rejuvenate your skin. It is made with bio-cellulose which means that the mask fabric can wrap your face very closely. That will prevent the active ingredients from evaporating away from your face.
Cannabinoids act like antioxidants so that this mask can undo skin damage from pollution, sun, and other damaging environmental factors. The Love Hemp CBD Infused Face Mask is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which help your skin to retain moisture and stay hydrated. Thanks to the ‘second skin’ technology applied in this product all the active ingredients are able to penetrate your skin and provide their full benefit to you. Love Hemp promises extreme hydration and smoothing of lines and wrinkles. Overall, your tired skin should regain a healthy glow.
Love Hemp’s 10 mg CBD Infused Cellulose Fibre Mask is formulated without parabens, phthalates, animal products, mineral oil, artificial fragrances, artificial coloring, denatured alcohol, or benzophenone. Manufacturing takes place in Korea. Love Hemp has informed me that its suppliers send the CBD oil directly to Korea, where the mask was produced.

What do the lab reports say?
Some confusion surrounding lab testing
According to Love Hemp, all of its CBD extracts and products are supplier, third-party (Botanacor Laboratories) and in-house laboratory tested. These lab reports are available to customers after sending an email request. As part of this review, I did send such an email, and I have received a certificate of analysis from a third-party laboratory, and also a certificate from the company’s internal analysis.
However, I cannot be sure whether the reports I received are actually the lab test results for my face mask. The internal report was prepared in March, but the third-party report has a very recent date (three weeks prior to purchase the face mask) and I presume that it would actually take a bit longer than a couple of weeks between testing the batches, processing them, manufacturing the product, transporting them to their retail and distribution locations, and actually selling them to me, their customer. Secondly, there is no batch number supplied on the packaging of the face mask, so it’s hard to prove which lab results apply to my face mask. According to Love Hemp’s customer service, internal lab reports sent to me are from the production level, but the third party laboratory uses different batch numbers for its own records and that is why batch numbers from both reports are different.
Analysis of the initial 80 percent extract
The lab report I’m about to briefly describe to you refers to the initial 80 percent extract used for all of Love Hemp’s oils. All of Love Hemp’s oils are diluted down from this base extract.
A certificate of internal analysis shows the potency of the phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil. Indeed, it contains mostly CBD (84.49 percent) and it doesn’t contain any significant amount of THC. The report also includes information about the presence of terpenes, which is great because terpenes are natural compounds that are good for your health. The oil which was analyzed was compliant with USP (United States Pharmacopeial Convention) standards for residual solvents (like ethanol, propane, acetone) and heavy metals (cadmium, lead, arsenic, mercury). That’s great news because it means that it’s a high-quality oil without any unwanted chemicals. Love Hemp also tested the samples for the presence of pesticides. The results were negative, as expected because the hemp that Love Hemp uses is grown organically, but it’s still good to see it confirmed.
Lab report from the third-party laboratory.
The second lab report I received was prepared for Love Hemp by the third-party laboratory (Botanacor). The analysis was performed quite recently, which made me think that these lab results may not be for my face mask, but for the most recent batch of CBD oils produced by Love Hemp. The lab test results showed the cannabinoid profile of the tested batch. CBD constituted the majority of cannabinoids in this sample (79.33 percent). The tested CBD concentrate also contained other cannabinoids, and in total it was comprised of 80.41 percent cannabinoids, 0 percent of which was found to be THC, but the limit of quantitation was 0.1 percent. It means than THC was not detected at a level above the lower limit for detection.
As a customer, I expect all cannabis companies to provide accurate information. Unfortunately, Love Hemp provided me with some confusing information. I wish to see that this brand will become more transparent with their customers in the future by providing up-to-date lab test results for each product.
My personal experience with Love Hemp CBD Infused Cellulose Fibre Mask
Unboxing of CBD Face Mask
I was excited to try the Love Hemp CBD Infused Face Mask. So far I have had good experiences with skincare products with CBD, so I had high expectations. The package is rather plain, but it does have all the important information on it. On the front, one of the first things I noticed was the Love Hemp logo. It’s a cannabis leaf with a heart at the center of the leaf. At the back of the package, the manufacturer has placed general information about the product like a list of ingredients and instructions on how to apply the mask. There are also very useful icons that give you straightforward information about attributes of this product like, for example, that this face mask is THC free, vegan, cruelty-free, etc.
How to apply Love Hemp CBD Infused Face Mask?
In order to correctly apply the mask, I tried to follow the instructions given by Love Hemp. Firstly, I thoroughly cleansed my face. For the best results, the manufacturer encourages you to use toner before putting the mask on. When my skin was ready, I decided to tear the package and look inside. I found a two-piece face mask. One piece is for your forehead, nose, and cheeks. The second part is for your chin, upper lip, and the lower area of your cheeks. The mask doesn’t have any strong fragrance. You have to be careful when you’re taking the mask out of the package because the mask is quite moist. I recommend you apply it above the sink. You may expect that a little bit of fluid can remain inside the package, but you can always apply the rest with your fingers.
After unfolding the mask, I applied it to my face. In my case, it was quite easy, but I can imagine that it can be a bit messy since the mask is, frankly, soggy. My hands were all wet. I tried to pay attention to correctly smooth it on my face. The mask is designed to wrap around the skin; however, there were areas where it looked like it doesn’t stick too well (like the area between my eyes). Nonetheless, I think that it created a decent barrier that kept the active ingredients close to my skin (that allows deeper penetration of all elements of the mask). The face mask stuck to my skin well. I could talk and walk while having it on my face without too much difficulty. It didn’t drop any liquid on the floor while I wore it. In my opinion, the mask is soft, breathable, and comfortable.
First effects of Love Hemp CBD Infused Face Mask
After 30 minutes I removed the mask. I followed the instructions and gently massaged the remaining serum into my face and neck. I also patted the excess serum onto the back of my hands. It’s best to give it a few minutes to really sink in your skin because at first, it will feel a bit sticky.
To my surprise, my skin didn’t react to it. Usually, after wearing face masks my skin gets slightly worse before actually getting better. Usually when I remove the face mask my skin is red and only after a couple of minutes, the irritation goes down. In this case, I haven’t noticed any signs of skin irritation. At the beginning my skin was dewy, but after all the serum was fully absorbed my skin felt very smooth. Even after two to three hours after removing the mask I still touched it with my hand from time to time, because it felt pleasantly soft.
The day after
I enjoyed applying and wearing the mask. I haven’t noticed any negative consequences right after taking the mask off, however, there was still a chance that my skin would break out the day after. Fortunately, nothing like this has happened. My skin returned to normal right away. I haven’t got any new pimples on my face on the following days. I have noticed that for the next two days, I didn’t get any dry patches on my skin (I sometimes have dry skin around my nose). The manufacturer encourages you to use the face mask two to three times a week, but unfortunately, one package contains only one mask which is not reusable. That’s a shame because I believe that my face would glow up even more if I would use that mask more often.
Value for money
I was very excited to try Love Hemp CBD Infused Face Mask, however, I was less thrilled to pay for it. Let’s be honest, the Love Hemp face mask is a tiny luxury that you can really enjoy once in a while. It would be difficult for most of us to incorporate it into a regular skincare routine. There are probably many other cheaper face masks (with non-CBD ingredients) that can hydrate and soothe your skin as good as Love Hemp CBD Infused Hemp Mask. However, for people with sensitive skin, it may be worth investing in this particular CBD Infused Face Mask. Overall I think that this product is a bit pricey, but at the same time, it can be a great and a bit luxury gift for somebody who appreciates less common skincare products.
