General Information About the Product

Kush Quen’s CBD-Infused Bath Bombs come in 11 different blends: Black Magic, Cafe Latte, Citrus, Earl Grey, Love, Matcha, Relax, Relieve, Shield for Immunity, Sleep, and Spiced Chai.

Each bomb comes in three dosages: 25mg, 100mg, and 200mg per unit.

Customers can choose to purchase the bombs individually, or buy one of Kush Queen’s pre-bundled collections: the Tea Collection, the Love Kit, the Wellness Collection, the Fitness Collection, the Relief Collection, the Rest & Relaxation Collection, and the Complete CBD Bath Bomb Collection.

I ordered the Complete CBD Bath Bomb Collection (200mg), which includes the following six bombs:

  1. Relieve
  2. Relax
  3. Sleep
  4. Love
  5. Citrus
  6. Awaken

I decided to start with the “Relieve” bath bomb, since I have an ankle injury and am always looking for products that might help. The Relieve CBD Bath Bomb is marketed as “the ultimate combination of essential oils for maximum pain relief… with carefully selected oils to support the relief of sore muscles and aching bones while also lifting away the stress and offering mental clarity.

How to Use This Product

If you like taking baths, bath bombs are a very enjoyable way to utilize the benefits of CBD. You simply run a hot bath and drop or place the bomb directly into the warm water just a few minutes before getting in.

In my experience, Kush Queen’s bath bombs take about 5-8 minutes to dissolve in the water. As you soak in the tub, your body absorbs the CBD, as well as the essential oils for a full body topical application. Kush Queen recommends a 20 minute soak, in order to reap the benefits.

On the website, Kush Queen suggests the 200mg bombs for those who are looking to take the edge off and induce relaxation; those working to fight off an infection or inflammation; those recovering from an injury or trauma; and those looking to detoxify or “reboot.”

Ingredients

“It’s pesticide and heavy metal free, which you definitely want when you’re taking a bath.”

Each of Kush Queen’s CBD-infused bath bombs contains slightly different ingredients, but they all include CBD isolate (hemp-derived CBD from an unnamed “partner farm in Oregon”) as well as a range of 100% organic essential oils, sodium bicarbonate (for the fizz effect), and extra virgin olive oil. Some include citric acid, cornstarch, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate, and natural colors.

The ingredients are not listed anywhere on the website, so customers are left to choose according to the name of the product and the supposed benefits. The 6 bombs I received listed the following ingredients on their respective packaging:

  • Relieve: clove, birch, rosemary, black pepper, coriander
  • Awaken: peppermint oil
  • Love: lavender, ylang ylang, bergamot, orange, patchouli, cedarwood
  • Relax: lavender, chamomile, frankincense
  • Sleep: lavender, citrus reticulata, origanum majorana
  • Citrus for Mood: orange, grapefruit, lemon

Kush Queen emphasizes its zero THC guarantee.

Transparency & Lab Results

Relieve 200mg CoA

Kush Queen’s products are third-party tested, and all lab results can be found directly on the website on a page organized according to each product. The tests are done by Cannalysis, which tests for potency, terpenes, chemical residue, residual solvent, microbial qPCR, heavy metals, filth and foreign material, and mycotoxins.

I like that the CoA’s are readily available, and customers can review the results before purchasing, unlike some brands that provide a batch number on the product packaging or require contacting a customer service representative.

Kush Queen’s website includes elaborate detail about the harvesting and extraction process of their CBD. Under the heading “Our Hemp CBD,” Kush Queen writes: “we source our hemp from Oregon, where the soil is rich with nutrients, and the climate allows a full growing season.”

The brand promises all products only use hemp extract “that has been processed to the point where it is absolutely free of any residual solvents or is extracted through solvent-free methods.”

Kush Queen uses CBD isolate. Some of its products contain CBD in its oil form, while others are converted into a patent-pending water-based form, which they claim allows the CBD to penetrate through the dermis of the skin, directly into your bloodstream and improving the bioavailability of the CBD.

About the Brand

“I think it’s really great what they’re doing to break stigmas.”

Kush Queen was founded in 2017 by former beauty queen and cannabis advocate, Olivia Alexander. After years of experience in the cannabis industry, Alexander decided to create her own wellness brand because she did not see herself represented.

“I approach cannabis from a wellness perspective, and wanted to create products that would make cannabis more accessible and harness the true power of the plant. A lot of people think topicals are snake oil or that they don’t work, but I believe they’re one of the best delivery methods. After all, the skin is the biggest organ.”

Olivia Alexander, Kush Queen Founder & CEO

Alexander has, apparently, turned Kush Queen into a multi-million dollar brand in 3 years, selling both CBD-only and THC-infused products: bath bombs, pain relief lotions, edibles, wellness supplements, and skincare.

Kush Queen also makes a point of giving back to the community, including donating part of their proceeds to: Born This Way Foundation; Be You Tiful Foundation; Trans Lifeline; and the Beagle Freedom Project.

Consumer Experience

The consumer experience was very positive. It was extremely easy to order the products online, and I received them in the mail within a week.

I love that Kush Queen offers bundles at a discounted price, so that we can try-out a variety of different bombs.

Packaging and the Unboxing Experience

The collection of six bath bombs arrived in a large cardboard box. The bombs come individually wrapped, and the whole collection is wrapped in bubble wrap for extra protection.

I received a cute card with the box that read: “thank you for your order. We hope you love your items as much as we love making them.” The card also includes directions: to drop into hot bath water, the bomb will start to fizz and dissolve into the water. For best results, soak for at least 20 minutes.”

The packaging was metallic and silver, which made it feel like a young and fun brand.

Pros and Cons of Kush Queen's CBD Bath Bombs

Pros
  • Great scent
  • Enjoyable experience
  • Woman-owned company
  • Quality ingredients
Cons
  • Not super effective
  • Lots of plastic packaging
  • Expensive per use

What I loved

Overall, I liked using this product. I really loved the smell of the essential oils (clove, birch, rosemary, black pepper, and coriander), and found it super refreshing. I also loved the turquoise color and the fizzing noise, which made the bath experience a lot of fun.

The bath was extremely relaxing and I felt very calm afterwards. I also noticed the release of some neck and back tension I had been feeling  – but I am not sure if this is because of the CBD or simply a 20 minute soak with essential oils.

It’s possible that I would feel more relief after using this product several times, but the marketing and price point do not really allow for this.

What I didn’t love

While the overall experience was enjoyable, I was a bit disappointed not to feel any pain relief whatsoever. I have an ankle injury, and was looking forward to experiencing some relief – especially since the product I chose was marketed as such, and because it contained 200mg of CBD.

Bottom Line & Main Takeaways

Kush Queen’s CBD-infused bath bombs offer users a fun, enjoyable, and relaxing experience. I would probably not buy this product again, since it is very expensive for a single-use, and I didn’t seem to experience any pain relief, despite soaking for 20 minutes in a bath infused with 200mg of CBD. I may need to use this product repeatedly in order to feel the effects, but at $16 a pop, this cannot be part of an everyday regimine.

The verdict: a nice pampering treat – nothing more.
