Be Calm by The Good Patch (La Mend) is a transdermal patch infused with 15mg of premium hemp and menthol. The name of the product, Be Calm, as well as its tagline, “unwind and decompress,” clearly indicate to consumers that this is meant to help relieve symptoms of stress or anxiety and promote relaxation. To that end, the product fulfilled its promise: I did feel more calm and relaxed almost immediately after applying the patch.
How to Use this Product
The instructions given on The Good Patch website are to “peel and place one patch as suggested on the packaging, or apply to any venous area (a part of the body where blood is transported from the skin surface back to the heart, such as the wrist) that is clean and dry.” The website also tells users to wear the patch for up to 12 hours, and not to unstick and reapply.
The instructions given on the packaging are slightly different — to apply one patch on the inside of your wrist for up to 12 hours.
“As a molecular biologist, knowing the science behind transdermal patches, I would also suggest the top of your foot as an option.”
I did find that this patch really worked. I started to feel relaxing and calming effects almost immediately, after about 10 or 15 minutes. This feeling lasted for about 3-4 hours, but then started to wear off.
After about one hour, I started to feel some nausea. This might be my own issue with transdermal patches, as I usually find myself needing to remove them after 4 or 5 hours, especially high-dose patches. Strangely though, this patch does not have a high dose (15mg of CBD), and it is supposed to be giving a steady dosage over a 12-hour period. Eventually, the nausea did subside. I want to note that I might have felt nausea because of the menthol, but we don’t actually know how much menthol is in this product.

The ingredients are not listed on the website at all, so consumers have to order this product without really knowing what it contains. In my opinion, that’s a lot to ask.
Once you do receive the product, the packaging lists just two ingredients:

- Industrial Hemp Cannabidiol (15Mg)
There is not a lot to say about ingredients, because not a lot of information is provided.
Transparency & Lab Results
Transparency is actually a major issue with this brand, in my opinion. The Good Patch does not provide any information about how or where the CBD is sourced, other than that it is hemp derived. We are not told whether the product is full spectrum or isolate.

The brand does make a point of stating that the product is third-party tested, organic, and non-GMO — but without a CoA, we are left to trust them on this claim.
The Good Patch claims to use “industrial hemp that is sourced from the highest quality, organically farmed, non-GMO plants.” The website goes on to explain “extraction methods adhere to the strictest operating procedures” and that “each batch is third-party tested for purity and quality.” Unfortunately, we have to take their word for it.
When you are dealing with CBD, an industry with so many unknowns, it is important to provide as much information as possible and make it accessible. For a company that has spent so much energy to make sure the brand looks great (and it does), I was surprised that it didn’t cross its t’s and dot its i’s to make sure this type of information is available. One option would be to add a QR code or batch number to the package itself or to the informational insert that came with my shipment.
I decided to email The Good Patch to inquire about a CoA, and received an email two days later with this attachment.

David and Kelly were owners of an award-winning organic day spa, while Betsy was an accomplished advocate in the hemp industry. As the founding story goes, the three friends met over coffee one morning to chat about hemp and the power of plant-based ingredients. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Good Patch offers two product categories: Hemp-Infused Patches and Plant-Infused Patches. The Hemp-Infused Patches include: Nite Nite, Hangover, Be Calm, Period, Pain Relief, and Hot Flash. Each package contains one patch. The Plant-Infused Patches include: B12 Awake, Dream, Rescue, Her, and Soothe. Each package contains 4 patches.
The company’s tagline is “unleash the power of hemp and plant-based patches for life’s most common ailments.” The website states that “hemp works symbiotically with the body’s central nervous system to unlock wellness and tranquility in a way that is natural, therapeutic, and builds up over time.”
This is very clearly a direct to consumer brand, and the online ordering process was very simple, smooth and straightforward. The package came with a promotional insert and print-out detailing the order, with contact information clearly provided. The website also has an email and phone number, and you can communicate via Instagram and Facebook messenger as well.
When purchasing any of The Good Patch products, buyers have the option to make a one-time purchase ($12 per patch) or subscribe and save 20% ($9.60 per patch). They also offer free shipping on orders over $50. Any unused or unopened packaging can be returned up to 28 days after purchase; however, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs. Sale items are not eligible for refund, and exchanges are only made for defective products.
Branding, Packaging and the Unboxing Experience
With over 26,000 Instagram followers, building a strong brand identity is clearly this company’s strength.
I was very pleased with the brand experience: the bold and bright colors, as well as clever product names made this feel less pharmaceutical and more in the wellness (or even recreational) space.
“This is a product I could see on a Target shelf – and as a former Target executive, that’s saying a lot.”
The Good Patch definitely seems to be targeting women, most likely 25-55 based on the names of the products and the different ailments or conditions they’re claiming to solve. As opposed to a general CBD product that might work for us, but doesn’t feel specifically for us, The Good Patch feels like a fun secret.
One thing that I found strange was that the Be Calm packaging I received had the following text: “when tense, the use of menthol has been known to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains of muscles and joints.” I found this to be peculiar for a product marketed as calming, not pain relieving.
What I loved
The brand name and brand identity remind me of products that I would find in a Target store. It is very approachable and aligned with the rest of the growing patch market. I love that the brand seems to target women who are interested in improving wellness, as evidenced by their patch assortment, which includes one called “Period” and another called “Hot Flash.”
Finally, I loved that the product had a rapid onset. I started to feel the relaxing effects within 10-15 mins.
What I didn’t love
The product is only sold as a single-use, individual patch. This is great for first-time buyers, but if you want to incorporate it into your daily wellness routine, you are going to pay $360 per month. There are no bulk or multiple use options. In comparison, B12 and other wellness patches typically offer a 30-day supply as a single order.
The price is also very high on a cost per mg basis. The pricing is positioned as a super premium infused product, as compared to the rest of the patch market.
Additionally, the patch fell flat in terms of other plant-based ingredients — specifically terpenes. While the options include added menthol, B12 or melatonin, The Good Patch products do not seem to capitalize on the impact of terpenes on the endocannabinoid system and their interaction with CBD.
Lastly, and most importantly, there were no lab test results or CoA’s available whatsoever. It is unclear whether the patch is made with isolate CBD (likely) or full-spectrum CBD. We also do not know where the CBD is sourced from, which is not ideal as a consumer.
Bottom Line & Main Takeaways
I would recommend The Good Patch for CBD users wanting to try a patch for the first time. It works well and is a very approachable brand to start with.
However, compared to other patches on the market, I cannot recommend this brand for anyone wanting to incorporate patches into their daily wellness regime. This is mainly because of the price point and lack of CoAs and available lab results.
