Behind theSscenes at Sunsoil
Established in 2015 as Green Mountain CBD, the company re-branded in February of 2019 as Sunsoil. The company focuses on affordability while maintaining the highest quality. They are vertically integrated: growing, harvesting, manufacturing and distributing their products across the U.S. right from their HQ.
They are located in the hills of Vermont and founded by a group of friends with a mission to bring high quality hemp to the market at prices everyone can afford. Sunsoil uses certified organic growing practices and manufactures their hemp using a proprietary Lipid Extraction method for their CBD in a cGMP certified facility. Another interesting corporate mission of Sunsoil is to be an integral part of their community, boasting their ability to provide 200 high paying farming jobs in the 2019 harvest season alone.
What you Get
Sunsoil actually carries two versions of these capsules: a 30 capsules and 90 capsule version. Each capsule contains a commendable, 3rd party tested, 20 mg of full spectrum CBD that was extracted with coconut oil.
Since the capsules do contain a full spectrum product, you get the benefits of the “entourage effect.” It does include up to 0.3% THC, but that won’t produce any psychoactive effects.

Test Results for Sunsoil 20 mg Capsules
On the side of the bottle, you’ll find a QR code that takes you to the website where you can look for your lot number. My Lot number was V041. It was manufactured in June of 2019.
Anresco Inc. is the laboratory responsible for testing the Sunsoil 20 mg capsules. The test results that Sunsoil discloses are actually a summary of the real test results, which is sorta the industry standard these days. You find that each capsule actually has 21.04 mg of CBD (so a little more than disclosed, which is cool).
The capsules do not test for any CBN or CBG, but you do find trace amounts of CBC. Unfortunately, Sunsoil test results do not include any results for pesticides or heavy metals, which is definitely more common now than it used to be. I really wish Sunsoil would post those, assuming they have them. It is my understanding that the more detailed analysis reports are significantly more expensive, so I can only assume the folks at Sunsoil are trying to save money for their end users by not getting these tests? However, we simply don’t know. Since Sunsoil is certified organic, I have to believe that no pesticides would be found in the test anyways.
Supplementing with Sunsoil 20 mg CBD Capsules
In February of 2019, Green Mountain CBD rebranded into Sunsoil. At that time, the packaging got a new look with a green and yellow color scheme. The look isn’t the prettiest I have seen, but it is simple, clear to read, and tells you exactly what is inside.
The bottles aren’t shipped in their own box, rather, they come alone in their white plastic bottle with a logo that is yellow and green across the front. You find the lot number and QR code just to the side of the front of the bottle, which prominently displays the brand name, logo, and total amount of CBD in the mottle. On the back, you see nutrition information. Honestly, it looks like something I would expect from very earthy, woodsy guys, which seems to be very true of the two founders of Sunsoil.
How do Sunsoil’s 20mg CBD Capsules Taste?
Since the capsules are full spectrum, you definitely do smell the very earthy smell associated with the hemp plant. However, since you’re not actually eating the pills, rather, you are swallowing it whole, you get to bypass some of that “earthy” flavor commonly found in CBD oils. Even after 20-30 minutes, I don’t get any hemp flavored indigestion issues.
The First Time I Took the Sunsoil 20 mg Capsules
I don’t remember exactly when I first took the Sunsoil 20 mg capsules. I remember a client telling me about this new company from Vermont that I needed to try, so I took one of hers. I generally take 5-10 mg of CBD in the middle of the day if I have any aches or pains and that does enough. Since these were 20 mg, it was a bunch more CBD than I normally take. I took the capsules in the middle of the day, right before grabbing my kids from their Mother’s Day Out program. Typically, I grab my kids from their “school,” we get a snack, and they go to sleep so I can do work. Not on that day. It was all I could do to keep my eyes open to put them to sleep. I fell asleep with my daughter and woke up to her staring at me in the creepy way only little kids can do. (you know, when they are really too close to your face, not really blinking and barely breathing, just staring….My oldest is 4 years old now, and I’m still not used to being woken up that way.) Good news was, I got a nice, 2 hour nap, and my back didn’t hurt. Lesson learned, I take the Sunsoil 20 mg capsules at night.
My History with Sunsoil 20 mg Capsules
I have been using the Sunsoil 20 mg capsules to help me sleep for over a year. Something happened after I had my second child, sleep just started to elude me. Considering I used to be the best sleeper this side of the Mississippi River, not getting my sleep has been nothing short of traumatic. (ok, maybe that’s a bit of drama, but for real, I miss sleeping through everything.) Plus, since I am not in the midst of my 4th decade, stuff just doesn’t work as well as it used to inside my body. I used to be able to sleep anywhere and be ready to go in the morning. These days, with my fitful sleeping and “princess and the pea” tendencies needing only the best mattress and perfect sleeping conditions, I wake up more like a rusted “tin man” than a happy mama.
The Sunsoil 20 mg capsules are the most reasonably priced, organic and third party tested product I have found that consistently works. 20 mg is too much for me to take during the day usually because it makes me sleepy, but at night, it is a fabulous addition to my nighttime routine. Usually, about 30 minutes or so before bed, I pop one of these pills and I’m happily counting sheep in no time flat. Usually, when I take one of these capsules at night, I wake up with less pain. I have noticed that when pain is more acute than normal I can take more of these capsules, but they usually do make me sleepy since they are so strong.
A Summary of Sunsoil 20 mg Capsules
The entire Sunsoil line is dedicated to providing affordable, high quality, 3rd party tested full spectrum products. You will be hard pressed to find another product with the same price per mg of CBD anywhere else in the market. The capsules sell for about $1/capsule or about .05$/mg, but they do offer sales regularly.
The Top 3 Reasons You Should Try Sunsoil 20 mg Capsules
- Value: The price per mg of CBD is very competitive.
- Ease of use: Coming in at 20 mg of CBD, you get a solid dose of CBD to help you relax, go to sleep, reduce inflammation, etc without being too strong.
- Regulated quantity: I’m a huge fan of supplementing my CBD with capsules. The biggest reason is that the droppers don’t always get full, or fill at the same height every time, which gives just a bit more variable to your supplementation.
3 Things You Should Consider if You’re Interested in Sunsoil 20 mg Capsules
- Just like the original Model T, you can have whatever strength of CBD capsule from Sunsoil, as long as it’s 20 mg. Keeping the costs down, Sunsoil limits variety so if 20mg isn’t strong enough for you, then you’re taking multiple pills (which may not be appealing to folks with lots of medicine.)
- Just like the above issue, Sunsoil doesn’t have any isolate capsules available, so if staying away from THC is a deal breaker, you won’t be able to take the Sunsoil 20mg capsules.
- Although Sunsoil claims to be certified organic, with no pesticides or heavy metals, they don’t disclose any of that on their test results. We have to trust they mean what they say, and that’s never a comfortable position to be in as a consumer.
